The Nicholls History of Toys Museum respects and understands that the Choctaw, Houma, Chitimacha, and Biloxi Peoples were the First Peoples and the original custodians of the land on which the university that sponsors this museum stands. This digital museum recognizes their continuous connection with the land and culture that have strongly impacted the way of life in the southeast of the United States. While the Indigenous People were the first to inhabit this land, we also would like to acknowledge that the school was originally a plantation worked by enslaved people. We would like to acknowledge these people and their stories.
