Birth of the DS - circa 2004
The DS was created by Nintendo in 2004 in Japan. Hiroshi Yamauchi was the creator of the DS and is therefore credited with the console's birth. The DS was one of the first consoles of its kind. Like other consoles, the DS was composed of various metals, wiring, and hardware. The device had dual screens with the bottom screen being a touchscreen. The DS also had a direction pad, four lettered buttons (A, B, Y, and X), two game cartridge slots, a microphone between both screens, an audio jack, as well as a power and volume dial.
